KUALA LUMPUR: Agrobank had emphasised the importance of producing resilient leaders to face the new world uncertainties in light of Covid-19 at the International CEO Forum 2023 held recently.
Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin, Agrobank president and chief executive officer said that, “The Covid-19 pandemic is a great example of how a singular event has enormous potential to cause economic disruption and necessitate fundamental structural changes at a global level.”
In his speech, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah, who is also the vice chairman of the Association of National Development Finance Institutions in Member Countries of the Islamic Development Bank (ADFIMI) added that, “We need leaders who are agile, flexible, and adaptable.
“More importantly, we need leaders who can inspire and motivate their teams and communities to achieve great things, even in the face of adversity.”
“We should also explore new leadership concepts of the present and future that can complement what has been successful in the past, to provide leaders with an expansive and sustainable framework of solutions,” he said.
The International CEO Forum is one of many programmes organised by ADFIMI and Association of Development Finance Institutions of Malaysia (ADFIM), which among others, is aimed at bettering Development Financial Institutions (DFI) with discussions on sustainable development within the DFI ecosystem.
In conjunction with that, he stressed that DFIs have a crucial role to play in ensuring that sustainable development aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
He iterated that managing issues of social, environmental and climate change will present many new opportunities for DFIs to exercise their mandate going forward in the economic development of strategic sectors.
