Teenage boy crushed to death by iron fence at Sibu workshop


SIBU: A teenage boy died after being crushed by a two-tonne iron fence at a heavy machinery transport workshop in Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce on Tuesday (March 14).

Sibu OCPD, Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili said his department received an emergency call from a 44-year-old local man regarding the incident at 10.48am.

"Police from the Lanang police station as well as the Sibu IPD Criminal Investigation Division who arrived at the scene found the 18-year-old victim lying motionless at the scene.

"The victim suffered an injury to the head as a result of being hit by an iron fence estimated to weigh two tonnes," he said.

According to Zulkipli, as a result of the investigation, it was found that there was no element of crime detected at the scene of the incident, and the victim's body had been sent to the Sibu Hospital mortuary for further action.

"An autopsy will be done to find out the cause of death," he said.

The case has been classified as sudden death.
