Anifah Aman will still be made a senator, says Parti Cinta Sabah sec-gen

KOTA KINABALU: Former foreign minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman will be made a senator, says Parti Cinta Sabah secretary general, Datuk James Ligunjang.

He confirmed this matter when contacted on Thursday (March 16) morning, but said he was unsure when Anifah received the appointment notice.

"Yes, it’s true that he will be sworn in as a senator at the Dewan Negara. As to when he received the notice, you have to ask him (Anifah)," he said.

Though the former Kimanis MP did not contest in the 15th General Election, he had been actively campaigning for Pakatan Harapan candidates and attended various campaigns for them.

Among them was the campaign talk in Putatan where Pakatan Harapan chairman and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was also present at.

Anifah, 69, was expected to be sworn in as senator on Monday (March 20).

His appointment was believed to be made following recommendations from the Prime Minister.

Anifah was a former Umno leader who quit the party in 2018 and took over as the PCS president in 2020.
