A FAMILY of seven in Kampung Baru, Gua Musang, have been living without electricity supply for almost four years, Berita Harian reported.

Rusmawaty Rusdy, 35, said supply was cut when the family could not pay the outstanding bills that amounted to thousands of ringgit.

She said even if the arrears are settled, reconnection of electricity could not be done as their house is located on a river reserve land.

She said she, her husband Mohd Soffian Mohd Rosni, 41, and their five children aged between two and 14 would sleep in the dark every night.

Rusmawaty said her husband does not have a regular income.

She said they use LED lights connected to a car battery only in the living room so her children could complete their schoolwork.

“We hope someone is willing to help us buy a generator.”

“If we were to apply for a People’s Housing Project house, we are worried about not being able to meet the monthly commitment,” she said.

> Controversial cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat claimed to be a victim of sexual assault at her beauty salon in Australia, Harian Metro reported.

Sajat, who was traumatised by the Feb 17 incident, had assumed the man who walked into the salon was a customer and did not think he had any ill intent.

According to her, the man threatened her and demanded protection money.

“The sexual assault took place in a room in the beauty salon, far from the front door,” she said.

“I begged him to stop but he persisted. He slapped me on the face after I pointed out that my salon has many hidden CCTV cameras.

“He also tried to strangle me. I didn’t fight for fear of being hurt or killed.”

Her salon has remained closed since the incident and Sajat said she is suffering from anxiety and depression as she is still struggling to recover from the trauma.

The attacker was arrested after she made a report and provided CCTV footage.
