Anwar chairs second Unity Govt secretariat meeting


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and leaders of the ruling parties have arrived at the Umno headquarters here for the second Unity Government secretariat meeting.

The meeting on Sunday (March 19) night will be chaired by Anwar.

Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Cabinet ministers, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian were among those present for the meeting that started at 8.15pm.

According to a source, the meeting tonight will see a presentation from three various committees including discussions on the upcoming six state elections.

"There will also be discussions on seat distribution between the parties," said the source.

A media conference would be held after the meeting, said the source.

On Saturday (March 18), Ahmad Zahid said that the secretariat will make several decisions on the six state elections, strategies and tactical measures that need to be taken to face the state polls and 16th General Election.

The first Unity Government secretariat meeting was held in early February.
