Man succumbs to injuries after fight, 10 arrested


KUALA LUMPUR: A fight here turned fatal after a 29-year-old man died from his wounds.

The fight was believed to have started on Saturday (March 18) morning between 5am and 7am and the victim was reportedly beaten within the Kompleks Metro Pudu area.

"He suffered injuries to the head and was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment. However, the victim was pronounced dead at 4.40pm on the same day.

"Acting on information gathered, the district and contingent police conducted a special operation from Saturday night to early Sunday morning to track down the suspects. The operation saw eight local men aged between 20 and 37 years old arrested, as well as two male foreigners aged 28 and 43, respectively,” said Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah in a statement Sunday (March 19).

The cause of the fight was believed to be due to a misunderstanding.

All suspects will be remanded and investigations are being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"The police strongly advise all to not speculate and create provocation from this incident," he said.
