Cops to get statements from Yeoh, Chegubard over 'Jom Ziarah'


KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh will be asked by police to give her statement in connection with the "Jom Ziarah Gereja" programme.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the police hope to record her statement soon.

"We will also record the statement of (activist) Chegubard (Badrul Hisham Sharon) today to assist investigations," he told reporters after the Sentul district police headquarters' Police Day celebration on Monday (March 20).

ACP Beh said police have received two reports so far in connection with the matter.

"We have also recorded the statements of three people including the complainant," he added.

On Sunday (March 19), Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said police have opened an investigation paper on the programme.

Despite the programme already being cancelled, Comm Azmi said the investigation should be conducted as police reports were lodged.

On March 14, Yeoh had said in the Dewan Rakyat that the programme did not involve Muslims.
