Four detained over burger stall fight in Semenyih

KAJANG: Four men were detained following a fight in front of a food stall in Section 5, Bandar Rinching, Semenyih.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the incident was caused by a drunk man who went to a burger stall at about 9.45pm on Thursday (March 23).

"The drunk man uttered lewd words while throwing beer cans at the stall, sparking the anger of the stall owner. It became more tense when the drunk man took out a knife and a machete and attempted to attack the burger seller," he said.

"Other people tried to intervene leading to the fight," added ACP Mohd Zaid in a statement on Sunday (March 26).

Four men aged between 28 and 41 were detained, he said.

"We also seized a machete, a knife and a ski mask. Those detained have been remanded until Monday (March 27)," he added.

The case was being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while armed with weapons, ACP Mohd Zaid said.

A video of the fight has since gone viral on social media.

"We advise the public not to speculate on the incident or issue any misleading statement about the viral video as it could disrupt public order and peace.

"Those with information on the case can contact investigating officer Insp Hazrani Hashim at 019-794 4442 or any nearest police station," he said.
