Jasin mom pining for missing 16-year-old daughter

JASIN: A worried mother is desperately searching for her teenage daughter who went missing more than a week ago.

The nasi lemak seller, 41, said she had been distributing posters of her missing daughter in the area and hoped that her 16-year-old daughter, would be found soon.

"I miss my daughter and I last saw her on March 17. Until now there is no sign of her whereabouts," she said when met at her home in Taman Maju here on Monday (March 27).

She said her seven-year-old son was the last to see her daughter at home.

"My son heard a knock at the kitchen door and told his sister about it," she said, adding that he only realised she had gone missing later and informed her about it.

"The kitchen door was wide open and the television was on when I came out to search for my daughter," she said, adding that there was a strong smell of perfume lingering in her daughter's room.

She said her family's Ramadan preparations were ruined after her daughter went missing.

She said her daughter is a homely person and always helps with household chores.

She said there were hurtful accusations that her daughter had eloped with her boyfriend.

"I know my child, she wouldn't step out of the house without permission," she said.

She said her daughter left behind all her belongings, including her mobile phone, at home.

She has since lodged a police report over her daughter's disappearance.

Meanwhile, Jasin police have urged the public to contact Insp Hasnida Mohd Nasir at 014-511 2895 or 06-529 222 (ext 317) if they have any information on the missing teenager.
