Rapid Rail actively tackling operations-related issues

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) is actively carrying out improvement works, including upgrading the Light Rail Transit (LRT) signalling and Passenger Intrusion Emergency Stop (PIES) systems.

It said the upgrading measures were to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers and the provision of quality services for the public.

"It is also as a mitigation step in efforts to tackle several other issues that have occurred lately so that they can be prevented in the future,” it said in a statement on Tuesday (March 28).

Yesterday, there was a disruption to the Kelana Jaya LRT line service resulting from a glitch in the PIES system, in which one component was stuck under the train, causing the train to be stopped for safety reasons.

However, the fault, which caused a disruption at the Taman Bahagia LRT station at 6.38pm yesterday, was rectified at 9.40pm.

Following that, free shuttle buses were provided for passengers between the Kelana Jaya and Asia Jaya LRT stations. - Bernama
