Early downpour disrupts Palm Sunday procession at Penang church

GEORGE TOWN: An early downpour disrupted the procession for Palm Sunday with the St George's Church here carrying out a short procession within the church compounds.

Nevertheless, more than 150 people turned up for the auspicious day singing hymns and waving palm fronds in the church.

They gathered at the parish hall at 7.30am on Sunday (April 2), with Associate Vicar Rev Stephen Vello present for the brief procession before they entered the hall.

The procession was made up by cross bearers, church elders, assistant priests and Rev Stephen.

In his address, Rev Stephen spoke of humility, and urged the people to obey God in their daily life.

The 200-year-old church is also known as the Church of St George the Martyr.
