PETALING JAYA: LBS Foundation (LBSF), the philanthropic arm of LBS Bina Group Bhd, has extended a helping hand to the victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria by donating RM500,000.

The earthquake that struck the eastern Turkish province of Van on Feb 28 with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale, has caused extensive damage, loss of life, and rendered many people homeless.

In response to this tragic disaster, LBSF has contributed RM500,000 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Calamity Fund (TBKLN) to assist with the ongoing relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.

The contribution was handed over by LBSF Board of Trustees Tan Sri Lim Hock San to Foreign Ministry secretary general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, witnessed by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, at China World Hotel, Beijing.

With a strong track record of supporting communities in crisis, the LBS Foundation has previously contributed to disaster relief efforts, including Covid-19 (RM1mil), flood relief to Pahang (RM50,000), and Selangor for Covid-19 (RM20,000).

"We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that has occurred in Turkey and Syria, and our hearts go out to the affected communities”.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, we recognise our obligation to support the relief efforts and extend our support to the people of Turkey in this time of need," said Lim.

LBS Foundation's donation is part of its ongoing commitment to assist and uplift communities worldwide.

"We believe that our donation will make a positive impact in the lives of those affected by the earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria and help support the critical work of humanitarian organisations on the ground," he added.
