Man smashes ATM screen after card ‘swallowed’ at JB bank

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a man for smashing the screen of an automated teller machine (ATM) at Taman Nusa Bestari here.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Arrifin said that the 35-year-old local suspect was detained at around 3.15am on Monday (April 3).

“The suspect, who was intoxicated, had gone to the bank, which is located along Jalan Bestari 6/2 to withdraw money.

“However, the ATM swallowed his bank card and he became so enraged that he smashed the ATM screen,” he said here on Monday.

ACP Rahmat also added that the suspect then kicked the garbage bin inside the premises, leaving the area in a mess.

He said the suspect was then brought to the Iskandar Puteri police district headquarters for further investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
