Undocumented immigrant nabbed in Tawau for raping stepdaughter, 12

KOTA KINABALU: A man has been arrested in Tawau district for allegedly raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Jasmin Hussin said the 32-year-old suspect, a foreigner, was arrested at about 9.50pm on Saturday (April 1) after the girl told other relatives about the incident.

He said the girl moved in with the suspect at Kg Iban, Merotai Besar earlier this year and that was when her nightmare allegedly started.

The suspect was said to have raped the girl in an oil palm estate in Kg Iban, he added.

“She informed her relatives and they reported it to the police,” ACP Jasmin said in a statement on Monday (April 3).

He said police arrested the suspect on the same day the report was lodged.

ACP Jasmin added that the suspect, who has been remanded, is being investigated for rape and under the Immigration Act 1959/63 for staying in Malaysia without any documents.
