SHAH ALAM: The Jualan Rahmah initiative may be expanded to cover more local ingredient manufacturers this festive season, says the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
Its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said he is confident that with the newest commitment from local household ingredients brand Rasaku, more manufacturers will eventually join as word of the movement spreads in the industry.
“With big names leading by example, it will make it easier for others in the food production industry to reference their existing Jualan Rahmah campaigns and follow suit.
“This will benefit brands through increased positive publicity while also helping households secure the ingredients they need to have a joyful celebration this coming Hari Raya.
“Discounted ingredients will also help out vendors operating during this Ramadan period, especially those that barely get by with the day-to-day sales they make,” he said during the launch of Rasaku’s Jualan Rahmah initiative yesterday.
Rasaku, the second food production manufacturer to join the initiative after local biscuit manufacturer Julie’s, will be offering discounts of between 15% and 30% on a number of its popular ingredients including coconut milk, toasted coconut paste and soy sauce.
These discounted products will be available on the shelves of popular supermarkets across the country until the end of the Jualan Rahmah initiative is announced by the ministry.
