JOHOR BARU: Police are urged to investigate the person who recorded the couple who allegedly engaged in an indecent act in a car park in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang.
Tebrau MP Jimmy Puah Wee Tse said he had been informed that the person behind the video had pretended to be a policeman and had demanded to see the couple’s identification documents.

“When they refused to do so, the unknown man had then tried to extort the duo.
“The man had also followed the couple until the Pasir Putih police station after they ran away from him,” he said in a statement here Saturday (April 8).
Puah added that he hoped the police would be able to provide a clear picture of the incident once the investigation is complete.
“I will be going to the Seri Alam district police headquarters tomorrow (April 9) to get the latest updates on this case,” he said, adding that he had also met with the couple and their families.
Puah, who is also the former Johor PKR Legal Bureau chief, said that the meeting was also attended by their lawyer Tan Chia Wei, who arrived at his office at noon to provide pro bono legal advice.

“The couple is currently being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code for gross indecent behaviour with another person in public, which provides for a maximum jail term of two years, upon conviction.
“If the person is under the age of 18, he or she will be brought to a reform school,” he said, adding that this would have a negative impact on the couple.
“Morally speaking, what they have done is not right, but to punish them with imprisonment is too harsh,” he added.
On Thursday (April 6), police detained the duo for allegedly engaging in an indecent act at a car park.

The couple was apprehended after a 23-second video of their indecent act was uploaded to Twitter and went viral on social media.
“The incident took place on March 29 in a car park at Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang, at 3.03pm," said Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Suhaimi Ishak.
He said acting on information received on Thursday, police managed to locate both suspects between 4.15pm and 5.15pm.
He said the suspects were arrested in two different locations - Taman Johor Jaya here and Taman Kota Masai.
