Task force probing cases on royalty, religion and race

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven investigation papers involving issues pertaining to Royalty, Religion and Race (3R) have been opened.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the cases were being investigated by a 3R task force led by Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan.

“The task force was formed on March 22. Its objective is to investigate cases containing insults upon religion, race and the royalty.

“The CID’s Special Investigation Unit will probe the cases promptly to ensure they are referred to the Attorney General’s Chamber (AGC) within seven days,” she said in a statement yesterday.

DCP Noorsiah said the seven investigation papers were opened between March 27 and April 6.

“Four cases are related to the royalty, two on insulting religion and one contains racial elements.

“(So far), two people have been detained for insulting royalty and race while another suspect is being tracked down,” she added.

Of the seven investigation papers, three have been referred to the AGC while four others are still under investigation, DCP Noorsiah said.

“We hope the public does not upload sensitive photographs and videos with the sensitive 3R elements.

“Such action could lead to slander and hurt the feelings of others until it causes chaos and trouble,” she added.

The public is also reminded to use social media wisely and to not touch on 3R issues to maintain the unity and harmony.
