HONG Kong superstar Jackie Chan made an ominous prediction that he will one day end up in a wheelchair, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The 69-year-old, who performs all of his own stunts, said his body is already suffering from the injuries it sustained throughout his career.

“I know one day I will either end up in a wheelchair or need a walking stick. Because right now, even after taking local anaesthetic injections, this part of my thigh still hurts, my shoulder and waist also hurt.

“Is the medicine reaching its limit (in effectiveness)?” he asked during a press tour promoting his latest movie, Ride On.

The martial arts veteran added that he has had two injections so far and that he will have to undergo surgery if they are no longer effective.

“Very afraid. I am terrified of needles. But never mind. This is what those of us in this industry have to endure; this is the life of a martial arts exponent,” he said.

It was earlier reported that Chan now has to rely on local anaesthetic injections to numb the pain so that he can continue to carry out action scenes.

Many Internet users commented that they are worried about Chan’s health and thanked him for his service to the film industry.

It was reported that Ride On tells the story of an elderly horse trainer who yearns for his horse to become a movie star one day.

Lao Luo, the character Chan played, ends up being sued in court while chasing his dreams. To prove his innocence, he relies on his daughter and her lawyer boyfriend.

Having appeared in more than 150 films in his career, Chan is known for his work ethic and for performing all of his own stunts.

In 2016, Chan received an honorary Academy Award for his “extraordinary achievements”.

> According to Sin Chew Daily, Singaporean singer JJ Lin became a trending topic in Chinese cyberspace after he lost US$113,000 (RM497,539) in the metaverse property market.

In 2022, it was said that the superstar had spent US$123,000 (RM541,569) on virtual properties on Decentraland, a website where people can buy virtual plots of land.

His investments have since lost 91% of their value and are now worth only US$10,000 (RM44,030).

According to the China Securities Journal, the average value of deals on Decentraland had dropped by over 90%.
