Sarawak's Alice Jawan appointed to Mavcom

PETALING JAYA: Sarawak Transport Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Alice Jawan Empaling has been appointed to the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom).

She will serve a three-year term effective March 28.

In announcing her appointment on Tuesday (April 11), Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Alice Jawan holds several positions, including as the Buoys and Light Board chairman, Sarawak Road Safety Council executive chairman and Sarawak Rivers Board deputy chairman.

Loke said Alice Jawan is also an adjunct professor with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak's (Unimas) Engineering Faculty.

"Her expertise, wide-ranging experience and passion for serving the public will be instrumental in propelling Malaysia's aviation industry forward as we continue to develop a commercially viable civil aviation industry that is responsive to the needs of the people.

"Both the ministry and Mavcom will benefit greatly from her insights and we look forward to working with her," he added.
