Zuraida signed document recognising me as PBM president, says Sng

KUCHING: Former Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president designate Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin previously signed a document recognising Datuk Larry Sng as the party president.

According to the document dated Nov 1 last year, which was uploaded on Sng's Facebook page, Zuraida acknowledged that she recognised the legitimacy of Sng's presidency.

She also agreed not to challenge the president's post until the party's triennial delegates conference due next year.

Sng posted the document on Tuesday (April 11) following news reports that Zuraida was taking legal action to be officially recognised as PBM president.

When contacted, Sng said both he and Zuraida had gone to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on Nov 1 last year to convey to ROS that the party's leadership dispute was resolved and that Zuraida recognised his presidency.

A news portal reported on Tuesday that Zuraida was seeking a declaration, among others, that ROS' decision to maintain Sng as party president was invalid and unreasonable, as well as a mandamus order to compel ROS to register her as PBM president with effect Oct 7 last year.

She also reportedly claimed to have received a letter from PBM dated Oct 15 last year that the party had informed ROS of her appointment as president.

Zuraida and 12 supreme council members were suspended on Oct 28 last year for allegedly undermining the party's interests and leadership.

She was then sacked from the party along with 10 others in December.

In February this year, Sng announced the party's new supreme council line-up with himself remaining as president.

Sng has always maintained that he is PBM president and never vacated the post for Zuraida.
