KOTA BARU: A total of 1,350 families from the B40 group in the east coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang received basic necessities contributed by the PETRONAS Foundation through its “Memacu Kehidupan Hari Raya Aidilfitri” programme.

Its east coast general manager Mohammad Ahmad Shazly Ramli said the programme was aimed at bringing Aidilfitri joy to the less fortunate.

“This year’s programme started with the presentation of aid to 600 less fortunate families in Kelantan from the Kota Baru, Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Bachok, Tanah Merah and Pasir Puteh districts.

“Meanwhile, for Terengganu and Pahang, which involve 759 recipients from B40 families, they will be given the contributions on April 11 and 17,” he told reporters after presenting the contributions to recipients in Kelantan here on Monday, Bernama reported.

He said the contribution consisted of food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, wheat flour and salt, as well as groundnuts, rendang paste, glutinous rice and packed coconut milk.

They also received Raya cookies prepared by participants of the PETRONAS Foundation’s Mekar programme.

He said this year’s programme involved 4,850 recipients nationwide, up from 3,990 recipients last year.

Also present was Kelantan state Welfare Department director Said Sidup.
