Two nabbed for insulting royalty


KUALA LUMPUR: Two men have been arrested separately in connection with issues pertaining to royalty, religion and race.

In the first case, a 42-year-old man was detained for allegedly insulting the royal institution via Facebook.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the suspect was arrested in Temerloh, Pahang, on Wednesday.

“He has been remanded for two days to assist investigations.

“The case is being investigated by Bukit Aman CID Special Investigation Unit (USJT) under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act,” she said in a statement.

DCP Noorsiah advised the public to respect the royal institution.

“Stern action will be taken against those issuing statements insulting royalty,” she said.
