Yayasan Melaka CEO is adviser for cancer society

MELAKA: Yayasan Melaka CEO Datuk Mohd Ridhwan Mohd Ali is now an advocate for cancer prevention and awareness in the state.

He has been appointed as the honorary adviser for National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NSCM) Melaka chapter to help spread awareness on cancer and assist cancer patients.

NSCM managing director Dr M. Murallitharan said the appointment of Mohd Ridhwan is to complement the growing concerns on the increase of the disease, including breast cancer, in the state.

“I am honoured that the CEO of Yayasan Melaka is part of our team, that will surely create impact in our efforts on cancer prevention and care spectrum,” he said after handing over the appointment letter to Mohd Ridhwan at the Yayasan Melaka office here yesterday.

Dr Murallitharan said the appointment of local influential figures can help encourage early screenings as well as organising anti-cancer campaigns.

He said awareness on cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment can be promoted by building stronger alliances with the people.

“Strengthening prevention and early detection can be achieved through more combined efforts and localised approach,” he added.

Dr Murallitharan said NCSM will expand its activities and services to all segments of the community in its mission to prevent cancer.

“We will continue to work with our strategic partners to educate, support and empower the locals to combat cancer,” he added.
