PETALING JAYA: Police will launch Op Lancar and the 20th Op Selamat on April 18 and 19.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that with the upcoming Hari Raya festivities, Op Lancar would focus on areas of high traffic flow.

Police would be mobilised to "holistically and systematically" reduce the traffic on highways and roads, he added. Members of People's Volunteer Corps (Rela) would also be deployed to assist.

"In conjunction with Hari Raya Eid al-Fitr 2023 the police via the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department will conduct Op Selamat 20 from April 20 to 27 with the theme 'Rumah Selamat, Sampai ke Destinasi" (Safe home, until the destination).

"The focus for this operation is to also ensure smooth traffic flow, as well as to reduce the rate of road accidents, the protection of property and homes and the rate of house break-ins during the festive period," he said.

Crime prevention efforts will be focused at housing areas, business properties and houses of worship.

Air surveillance will be conducted as well to identify traffic hot spots.

"Road users are urged to keep up to date with the latest traffic flow information on Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) portals and official channels, as well as other highway concessionaires in addition to using navigation applications for planning their trips back home," he said.
