JOHOR BARU: A total of 689 policemen will be stationed at various locations statewide to control the traffic flow in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri and the school holidays.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that the police will focus on monitoring 27 black spots (accident-prone areas) and 47 hotspots (congestion-prone areas) during the holiday season.
"Special focus will also be given to our two main entry points, the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) and Bangunan Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) CIQ that are expected to see an increase in number of vehicles coming to Malaysia.
"The North-South Expressway is also expected to see heavy traffic before Hari Raya as per the trend in past years," he said in a statement here.
He added that several districts in Johor are also expected to see a large number of vehicles entering the state.
"Among the districts are Batu Pahat, Kota Tinggi, Pontian and Muar, especially around village and Felda areas," he said.
Comm Kamarul Zaman also advised road users, especially those returning to their hometowns for the holidays, to continue adhering to road regulations.
"Drive carefully and do not be selfish or emotional when on the road. Always be patient in any situation and do not provoke others as this could be dangerous to yourself and those around you," he said.
