Cops arrest man for allegedly lighting fireworks along MRR2


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man who was seen lighting fireworks on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said in a statement on Sunday (April 17) that a viral video of the man lighting fireworks on the busy road prompted an investigation into the incident.

The video was believed to had been recorded in front of a petrol station along the highway.

"On April 15 at 10pm, a police team arrested a 35 year old lorry driver in Jalan Dagang," he said.

"The suspect lit the firecracker after being asked by customers of a business that was owned by his friend. No criminal record was found and the urine test conducted came back negative," added ACP Mohamad Farouk.

The suspect has been remanded until April 19.
