KUALA LUMPUR: An impromptu fireworks display occurred here after a fire destroyed an illegal fireworks stall.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya, in a statement Monday (April 17), said that a video of the fire led to the police opening investigations.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the stall had no licence and that the incident occurred on April 16 near Jalan Raja Bot in Chow Kit at around 10.50pm.

"The individuals involved have been identified and their statements will be taken in the near future," he said.

A 42-second TikTok video showing a stall on fire, leading to firecrackers and fireworks lighting up a night market had earlier gone viral.
