KULAI: A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman at a hotel on Jalan Belimbing, Senai here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said police received a distress call informing them of the incident at 2.09pm on April 13.

"A raid was conducted and the police managed to arrest the suspect.

"Investigations revealed that the suspect is the 23-year-old victim's former neighbour.

"The suspect had brought the victim and her one-year-old son to the hotel after offering her help to find a house to rent," Supt Tok said in a statement here on Monday (April 17).

Upon entering the room, the suspect pushed the victim onto the bed, hugged her and covered her mouth, he added.

"The victim managed to share her location with her boyfriend, who then called the police," he said, adding that the suspect was charged in court on April 17 and was fined RM2,000.

The case was investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or using criminal force with the intent to outrage the modesty of a person.
