Melaka to build permanent farmers' market in Sungai Rambai

JASIN: The Melaka government will build a permanent farmers’ market equipped with various facilities worth RM3 million next to Sungai Rambai Rest and Service Area (south-bound).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the allocation for the construction of the farmers’ market had been approved by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) for the overall cost including land acquisition.

"The permanent farmers' market will be built with an open concept and the operation of the old market in Sungai Rambai town will be moved there.

"The new site is strategic because Sungai Rambai borders several districts in Johor, thus being able to become an attraction as the gateway to the south," he told reporters after closing the ‘Kuih Tradisional dan Pelita Raya Aidilfitri Melaka’ festival here on Sunday (April 16) night. - Bernama
