Special discounts on raw items for Menu Rahmah operators, says Anwar

PUTRAJAYA: Menu Rahmah operators will be able to purchase raw items at special discounted rates to help lessen their burden and costs, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said the government is collaborating with selected supermarkets to offer these operators special prices for items such as chicken, onions and other basic foodstuff.

He said the government acknowledged contributions by Menu Rahmah operators to ensure its Madani aspirations to lessen the people’s cost of living are met.

“We are also aware of the cost that has to be borne by the operators for raw materials and food items.

“We hope this initiative will bring relief to operators and ensure the continuity and sustainability of the Menu Rahmah programme,” he said on Tuesday (April 18).

Anwar said that Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayob would detail this initiative.

The Menu Rahmah initiative was launched on Jan 31 this year to offer launch or dinner sets for as low as RM5 at over 15,000 food outlets nationwide.
