Yayasan Sabah offers up to 25% discount for study loan repayments

KOTA KINABALU: State-owned Yayasan Sabah is offering up to 25% discount in repayments of study loans, says its director Datuk Seri Gulamhaidar Khan Bahadar (pic).

He said that those making lump-sum repayments will get the 25% discount while those who make half the total loan payment will be given 15% off.

He said the discounts were under the foundation's Appreciation Rebate Programme for three months from this month until June 30.

"It will help ease the burden on borrowers and also give them an incentive to repay loans," he said here on Tuesday (April 18).

Gulamhaidar said previously, the 25% rebate was only given to borrowers who wanted to shorten their repayment period by at least 75% of the prescribed time.

He said the incentive was also to supplement the Federal Government's efforts to implement the Loan Repayment Incentive for the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), which went into effect on March 1.

"Yayasan Sabah Group is also offering a 15% rebate to borrowers who wish to repay half of their loan balance. Interested borrowers must, however, sign a rebate acceptance letter," he added.

For that purpose, Yayasan Sabah Group has also diversified its payment facilities to make it easier for borrowers.

Throughout the programme, he said borrowers can make payments online, among other modes of remittance.

"Borrowers have various digital payment options, such as Maybank2u for Maybank customers and telegraphic transfers or JomPAY for other bank customers.

"Alternatively, we also accept payments made through bank standing instructions, bank drafts and cheques," he added.

He said borrowers can also visit Yayasan Sabah's payment counters at Level 6 of its Menara Tun Mustapha headquarters in Likas Bay, at UTC Sabah in Sembulan, or the foundation's zone offices in Beaufort, Kota Marudu, Keningau, Sandakan and Tawau.

"With more study loan payments collected, we hope to raise more funds to continue to support and provide educational sponsorship to students," Gulamhaidar said.
