KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty-four suspects have been caught following a sweep at the base of a suspected cheating syndicate here, says Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah.
He said that the 24 Malaysians and 10 foreigners from China, Indonesia and the Philippines were arrested when police personnel from Bukit Aman raided the premises at Jalan Tun Razak on Tuesday (April 18).
"The preliminary investigation showed that the syndicate had offered a 'multi-level investment' scheme touting cryptocurrency via an investment application that was given out by the syndicate," said Supt Ashari in a statement on Wednesday (April 19).
He added that the syndicate is known to have been in operation for two months within the Kuala Lumpur area.
"All members were working as customer service officers and managers with remuneration of between RM2,500 and RM15,000 a month," said Supt Ashari.
All suspects have been remanded for further investigations.
