Cops arrest three linked to abrupt cancellation of event in KL


KUALA LUMPUR: Police here have arrested three people following the abrupt cancellation of an event at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said in a statement on Thursday (April 20) said that an investigation paper was opened on the Hooray X Fest Raya event on Wednesday (April 19) following a report lodged against it.

"On April 20 three people including the company director and event organiser were arrested, aged between 23 and 51 years old.

"They will be remanded until April 21 for further investigation," he said.

ACP Noor Dellhan added that the investigation was being conducted under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, adding that six reports had been lodged against the event so far.

The event, which was scheduled to begin on April 19, was abruptly cancelled with booth holders claiming losses from operational costs.
