Woman raped by home intruder in Ipoh

IPOH: A woman, who is believed to have been raped, was found wailing and in a trauma at Jalan Kamaruddin Isa, Fair Park here.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the 38-year-old woman was found crying and with wounds on her leg on Tuesday (April 18) at about 9.15am.

"We received a report on the matter that was lodged at the Sungai Senam police station and rushed to the location to provide assistance.

"We found that the victim was raped at her home by an unknown local man before she managed to escape," he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 19).

"The injury on her leg was due to falling down from a high place.

"She was then sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition," he added.

ACP Yahaya said the police had acted swiftly and arrested a 43-year-old man who was still at the victim's home.

"The police also seized several items from the man, including a pair of scissors, knife and crowbar.

"The man tested positive for methamphetamine and is also found to have several drug-related cases," he said.

"The police have obtained a seven-day remand order until April 25 to facilitate investigations under Section 376 of the Penal Code.

"The police will refer the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor's office for the next course of action," he added.
