PAS sends out Hari Raya wishes, urges vigilance against Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Conveying Hari Raya Aidilfitri wishes to those celebrating the festival, PAS says it hopes this year's celebration will be spent safely in gratitude and joy with family and friends.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party wishes everyone happy holidays with their loved ones.

He said this year was different compared to the last few years when we were faced with various challenges due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

"Although the situation now is much better, we should not take it lightly and let our guard down when it comes to safe and healthy practices.

"This is very important following reports of a surge in Covid-19 cases in several states, especially the Omicron XBB1.5 subvariant that can easily spread as face masks are no longer mandatory," he said in a statement on Friday (April 21).

Takiyuddin said continued vigilance is necessary and important because of the increased movement of people.

"Families gathering during the festive season is among the main factors known to contribute to the increase in cases," he said.

Takiyuddin also said while celebrating the festival we should not forget solidarity with the less fortunate members of society.

"The humility and noble character built throughout Ramadan should remain with us in the following months and not be replaced by self-interest that goes against the idea and goal of this past month of worship," he said.
