PM hopes for people to strengthen unity

KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expresses hope that the people will strengthen unity for the sake of the country.

The Prime Minister said he believed national unity could raise the dignity of the country and that the people could live in a peaceful and prosperous environment together.

“In conjunction with this celebration which is celebrated by all Muslims in our country and around the world, I wish them Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“Let’s strengthen the spirit, the unity of all Malaysians, develop the country, save the country, starting within ourselves as after Ramadan Kareem, we have cleansed ourselves, our souls and raise the dignity of our family, our community, our country as one,” said Anwar, Bernama reported.

He said this in a video lasting two minutes and 36 seconds which was uploaded on his Facebook page.

In KOTA KINABALU, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor paid tribute to Sabah’s diverse cultures and beliefs, saying this has not prevented the people to live in peace and harmony.

In his Hari Raya greetings, Hajiji said he was proud of such diversity, adding that mutual respect for each other amid the melting pot of faiths and traditions has allowed the state and its people to achieve progress consistently.

“The peace and harmony of our society has opened a wide avenue for us to utilise our own capabilities and bring our families, communities, state and country to a better level.

“With this effort, we will break all the barriers that can separate us as a Malaysian nation,” he added.
