Meaningless Raya without 'ayah', says Najib’s daughter

PETALING JAYA: The Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration this year is meaningless to the family members of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak, says his daughter Nooryana Najwa.

Nooryana said that the ongoing Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration is unlike previous years, where Najib was able to spend quality time with his family.

“I would’ve picked the colour of his outfit and the entire family would have gotten matching colours

“Dad would remind us to prepare his favourite rendang to be eaten with lemang, which was the recipe of Mak Wan from Seremban, which was from our mother’s side.

“Before Raya, we would visit the graves of our grandparents and on Raya morning, we would greet one another and ask for forgiveness. Everyone was also present to take a family picture,” said Nooryana.

“There is none of that this year. Hari Raya this year is meaningless to us,” added Nooryana, who was speaking in a heartfelt video on Instagram.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence.

Earlier this month, Umno announced that it will be seeking an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to present an application to consider a royal pardon for Najib.

The first royal pardon request was filed by Najib on Sept 2 last year, about 10 days after he was imprisoned on Aug 23.

According to the Prisons Regulations 2000, the second pardon application can only be filed from Aug 23, 2025, onwards.
