PETALING JAYA: The King has called on all Malaysians to unite and ensure the nation’s peace and harmony.
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said unity is important to ensure a prosperous future for the nation.
“Let’s show our commitment to remain united and ensure peace and harmony in this beloved country. Let’s uphold loyalty to King and country as a catalyst for unity that will create a glorious future for the country,” said the King in his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message.
Sultan Abdullah said this year, Malaysians can celebrate Hari Raya without any restrictions in a peaceful country, which is different compared with Muslims in Palestine, which was recently attacked by Israeli forces.
“Without any sense of guilt, the Zionist regime carried out a despicable attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan.
“It seems like it’s an annual tradition during the final days of Ramadan and ahead of Syawal, where the Zionist regime will conduct extreme provocation against Palestinian Muslims,” he said.
The King said Malaysia and the world have strongly condemned the attacks.
At the same time, he said there were many lessons that could be learnt from the ongoing Palestinian conflict.
“In Malaysia, every race and religion is free to exercise their traditional celebrations in harmony. Malaysians can also go about their daily lives with full tolerance and without any differences between races or religions,” he added.
Sultan Abdullah also extended his and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah’s prayers over the conflict in Sudan.
“May the conflicts in Sudan and Palestine find a peaceful conclusion,” he said.
His Majesty said he and the Raja Permaisuri Agong were also appreciative of those who had to work during the festive season.
He urged Malaysians travelling back to abide by traffic laws.
“May you safely arrive at your destination and celebrate Hari Raya with your beloved family,” the King added.
