Presence of various races at open houses shows unity is getting stronger, says Rais


MELAKA: The presence of various races at the Aidilfitri Open House proves that solidarity among the people in the state is strengthening.

State senior executive councillor for Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management, Datuk Rais Yasin (pic) said it indirectly reflects the concept of Madani Malaysia at the state level.

"The Aidilfitri Open House is indeed a way to forge racial unity and the spirit of Madani Malaysia being translated to state level as well.

"So I expect the Aidilfitri open houses of other executive councillors or state assemblymen will be livelier this year in a harmonious atmosphere with racial diversity," he said.

He told the media at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House held at Krubong Community Sports Complex here Sunday (April 23).

Also present was Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, who accompanied the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and other state leaders to the function.

The event which began at 10am, saw more than 10,000 guests from various socioeconomic backgrounds and races present, especially residents from Paya Rumput state constituency. - Bernama
