PETALING JAYA: Traffic volume is picking up along major highways as people begin their journeys home following the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations
A spokesperson from the Plus Monitoring Centre said that traffic along the North-South Expressway was slow-moving along several stretches.
"Up North, traffic is slow-moving from Kepala Batas toward Hutan Kampung, Alor Setar Selatan toward Alor Setar Utara (northbound), Alor Setar Selatan toward Pendang (southbound), Gurun toward Pendang, Sungai Petani Utara toward Gurun, and Sungai Dua toward Bertam.
"Traffic is also slow from Juru toward Bandar Cassia in both directions, Bandar Baharu toward Jawi, Kuala Kangsar toward Changkat Jering, Ipoh Utara toward the Menora Tunnel, and the Menora tunnel toward the Sungai Perak rest area," he said when contacted on Sunday (April 23).
He added that along the central stretch of the highway, traffic was slow-moving from Rawang Selatan toward Sungai Buaya, Lembah Beringin toward Tanjung Malim and Slim River toward Sungkai (a bottleneck area).
"Along the southern section of the highway, traffic is slow-moving from Nilai toward Senawang, Bukit Gambir toward Pagoh, Yong Peng toward Ayer Hitam, Machap toward Ayer Hitam, Senai toward Kulai, Kulai toward Sedenak and Sedenak toward Kulai," he said.
Meanwhile, according to the East Coast Expressway official Twitter account, traffic is slow-moving eastbound to the Gombak toll plaza while a 4.9km crawl was also reported from Gombak toll plaza headed west.
A one-kilometre crawl was also reported from KM138.9 toward the Chenor toll plaza.
