TUMPAT: The Malaysia Madani Aidilfitri Open House with the Prime Minister proves that the context of togetherness between the federal and state governments stills exists.
Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the Kelantan government had no issues with the event and had received the letter from the government with an open heart.
“Kelantan respects the Federal Government’s decision to hold a Madani Aidilfitri open house at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium from 7pm to 10.30pm on May 12.
“All preparations are being done by the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry as the lead ministry,” he told reporters at his Aidilfitri open house in Kampung Alor Pasir near Wakaf Baru here yesterday.
According to Bernama, the Prime Minister’s Department had announced that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would not be holding an Aidilfitri open house at his official residence at Kompleks Seri Perdana in Putrajaya this year.
Instead, it said the Malaysia Madani Open House with the Prime Minister would be organised in three states – Kedah (April 29), Kelantan (May 12) and Terengganu (May 13).
Meanwhile, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah hosted a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at Istana Negara here.
Their Majesties arrived at the main banquet hall of Istana Negara at 10.10am on Saturday.
They were accompanied by Anwar and wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Bernama reported.
Also in attendance were Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Digital Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.
The reception was also attended by foreign envoys, including from Singapore, Indonesia, the United States, Turkiye and Brunei, and around 2,000 people consisting of civil servants, community leaders and the Orang Asli community.
After the reception, Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah exchanged greetings with the guests.
“I was made to understand that there have already been 17 cases of children, below the age of 10, being injured while playing with firecrackers, with 12 of them warded at hospitals,” he added.
