Ten hurt in four-car pile-up in Kundasang


KOTA KINABALU: Some holidaymakers in Kundasang, Ranau who were in four separate vehicles found themselves in a multi-car accident in the district on Monday (April 24).

Six escaped unhurt and 10 others suffered from varying levels of injuries during the multiple-car collision along Jalan Kouluan there.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received a report about the accident at 1.39pm.

"Each vehicle had four people on board, totalling 16.

"None of those in the first car sustained any injuries. Two in the second car were unhurt but two female passengers, aged 65 and 40, suffered broken arms.

"Meanwhile, all four victims in a third car sustained minor injuries.

"The status of four victims in the fourth vehicle, an MPV, are unknown as they were sent to the hospital by some people before the team arrived," the spokesman said.

The injured victims were given first aid by emergency responders on site.

"After ensuring there were no more risks, the operation ended at 3.20pm," the spokesman said.
