Malaysians take to social media after feeling tremors from Indonesia quake

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians took to social media to share their experiences following the earthquake in Indonesia, with some saying they felt tremors and vibrations in Peninsular Malaysia.

"Indeed it was a 7.3 earthquake... lying in bed (I) felt my body swaying and my phone charger fell from the table, also heard sound of trees outside shaking," said Twitter user @matsz.

Another tweet from @amnxzhr asked: "Err did anyone felt (sic) some sort of earthquake around 4am?"

"Magnitude 7.1 'bergoyang katil pagi tadi' (bed was shaking in the morning), Indonesia has sent tsunami alert. Hopefully all are safe," said @ArilEfzueni.

"Me at 4am: Is this an earthquake or a spirit shaking my bed?" was the question asked by @rzmaulana.

The earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 4am Tuesday (April 25) in southern Sumatera, according to MetMalaysia.

The epicentre was 85km north-west of Siberut, Indonesia at a depth of 48km.
