Police nab three over assault on bank clerk

KUALA LUMPUR: Two women and a man have been arrested in connection with the assault of a bank clerk.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident occurred at around 3.30pm last Friday.

“The 45-year-old complainant was in Jalan Pandan 10/1 with her husband and cousin when she was yanked out of their car and assaulted by a group of people.

“They also attacked her cousin.

“Both of them suffered injuries to their heads and faces,” he said in a statement yesterday.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the attack was believed to have been sparked by accusations and insults between the complainant and one of the suspects.

Two days after the incident, he added, the police arrested a local woman, a foreign woman and a local man aged between 34 and 52.

“We have remanded the local woman to assist in further investigations,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Sections 323, 506 and 427 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and committing mischief respectively.
