Anwar: No more billboards of me, use money for better purposes

ALOR SETAR: Billboards with his face on it are not in line with the Malaysia Madani concept, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"I was on my way to Alor Setar on Friday (April 28) and I was told about the billboard featuring me all over the country. I said that there is no need to spend money on this," said Anwar.

Speaking to reporters after the Federal Government's Malaysia Madani Open House at the Raia Hotel here on Saturday (April 29), Anwar said these billboards had been put up by government departments using allocations from the previous government.

Anwar added that the money allocated for these billboards could be used for a better purpose, such as helping those in need and said that he has instructed the relevant departments and agencies that he does not want such billboards put up in the future.

“It is only a coincidence that I have not been informed about it, so I was not able to make a decision about them,” said Anwar.

However, he added that the billboards already up will remain and said that he does not blame the officers involved as they were only continuing an existing policy.
