Anti-hopping law will not be tabled at Pahang assembly sitting in May, says MB

PETALING JAYA: Pahang will not table the anti-hopping Bill at the state assembly sitting which begins on May 8, says Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

The Mentri Besar said the decision was made after taking into view the Opposition, which had requested the tabling to be postponed for now.

Wan Rosdy added that he will consider suggestions from Perikatan Nasional before any amendments to the Bill are tabled and passed.

"They have requested to the government that the tabling of the Bill be postponed for now and we have accepted their views," Astro Awani quoted Wan Rosdy as saying on Monday (May 1).

"They have given their reasons for the Bill to be postponed, which is to study and re-study and probably give their suggestions to us.

"On our part, if the suggestions are good there is no problem for changes or amendments," said Wan Rosdy after attending the Pahang Umno Hari Raya open house at Sungai Koyan on Tuesday (May 2).

On April 12, during a briefing on the anti-party hopping Bill to all assemblymen, Pahang Opposition leader Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the tabling of the Bill should not be hurried and will have to be carefully studied, especially on the issue of appointed assemblymen.
