Home-made bomb explodes outside Old Klang Road shop


KUALA LUMPUR: An improvised explosive device (IED) went off in front of a shop at Tiara Mutiara 1 off Jalan Puchong, Old Klang Road here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the incident occurred at about 6am on Tuesday (May 2).

"We discovered three PVC pipes which had been modified to be a bomb. Checks also discovered a remote IED," he said in a statement.

ACP Amihizam said the Fire and Rescue Department, Bomb Squad and the Forensic Department also investigated and discovered bomb fragments at the location and three sets of fingerprints.

"CCTV footage also showed two men in the vicinity during the incident.

"We are investigating under Section 6 of the Explosive Materials Act 1957," he said.
