Three cheat death after car plunges down slope while trying to avoid dog on road


ALOR GAJAH: Three men cheated death after their car plunged down a hillside when trying to avoid a dog crossing their path at Jalan Lendu in Masjid Tanah here.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu identified the three as Aizat Affandi Saufi Affandi, 25; Muhammad Arif Zawaluddin, 23; and Muhammad Zairul Faizri Bin Mohd Fairuz, 21.

He said all three sustained minor injuries in the 8.15pm accident on Monday (May 1).

Supt Arshad said the weather was fine when the three were driving along the curvy road before the car plummeted 3m and rammed into a tree.

He said the driver, Aizat Affandi, lost control when he tried avoid hitting the dog which was on the road.

The three, he said, were rushed to Alor Gajah Hospital in ambulances once they were rescued.

Supt Arshad added that an investigation has been opened under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, a Melaka Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said ten personnel managed to rescue all three in just a few minutes and the mission was completed by 8.50pm after receiving a distress call at 8.17pm on Monday.
