The couple were apparently leaving their home in Taman Selesa at around 7pm on Saturday when the incident happened.
As the 60-year-old husband was about to reverse the car, the woman named only as Malliga realised she had forgotten something and got out of the car.
As she came back and was standing by the car door about to get in, the man accidentally hit the gas pedal while still in reverse gear. The car hit the woman, shot out of the house and crashed into another car parked outside.
The victim died on the spot. The husband escaped unhurt.
