It's news to me, Penang CM says of 'plot' to oust him

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow says he does not have the faintest idea about any plot to remove him from the post.

"This is news to me," he told the press on Wednesday (May 3) when asked about a report in a portal saying there was an internal push in DAP to keep him from returning as chief minister after the state election.

According to the report, the "conspirators" are three assemblymen who feel he has not been effective in leading the state and want his predecessor Lim Guan Eng to return.

Asked about this possibility, Chow said according to the state constitution, a member of the legislative assembly may be appointed chief minister if they have not held the position for two terms.

Lim was chief minister from 2008 until 2018, when Chow succeeded him.

Chow said his focus now was to lead the state Pakatan Harapan to victory before deciding on the next course of action.

As for the assemblymen involved, Chow said he had no idea who they were.

"I don't know who they are ... no one has expressed their unhappiness to me," he said.
